Terms of Service

The ground rules for using ChatGPTDetector.me, covering the content you submit, the automated analysis we run and the reports you get back.

Last updated: October 20, 2026

At a glance

  • Important: Reports from ChatGPTDetector.me are automated estimates. Use them to support human review rather than replace it, and never as the only basis for a high-impact decision.
  • You must be 13 or over, and legally able to accept these Terms, to use the Service.
  • Your submissions remain yours; the license you give us is limited to what running, securing and improving the Service and delivering your results require.
  • Don’t abuse the Service, sidestep its limits or security controls, or misrepresent a report’s findings.

1. Agreeing to these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply whenever you access or use the website, reports and writing-review tools ChatGPTDetector.me offers, referred to together as the “Service.” By using the Service, you’re agreeing to these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy.

If you’re using the Service for an organization, you confirm that you’re authorized to bind that organization. Don’t use the Service if you don’t agree to these Terms.

2. The ChatGPTDetector.me service

ChatGPTDetector.me offers tools that look at writing for signals like AI-generated language, similarity, citations, grammar and style. Which features and report formats you see can depend on the tool, the language and availability.

We run ChatGPTDetector.me as an independent writing-review service. When we refer to a third-party source or website, no affiliation or endorsement is implied.

3. Who may use the Service

The Service is open to you only if you’re at least 13 years old and can legally enter into these Terms. If you’re younger than the age of legal majority in your place of residence, a parent or legal guardian must read these Terms over and accept them for you.

4. The text you submit

Text, documents and any other content you submit remain your property. From you, ChatGPTDetector.me receives a limited, non-exclusive license to copy, host, process and transmit that content. The license is limited to what’s necessary for operating, securing and improving the Service and for returning the results you request.

Submitting content means you confirm that you have all the rights and permissions it requires, and that the submission doesn’t break any law or confidentiality duty, infringe intellectual-property rights, or violate another person’s privacy.

You’ll find more on how we handle submitted content in the Privacy Policy.

5. Rules for using the Service

When you use the Service, you agree not to:

  • break the law, help anyone commit fraud, or infringe another person’s rights;
  • send in malware, or attempt to access any system without authorization;
  • resell or sublicense the Service, or offer it to other people, without our written permission;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, overload or disrupt the Service, or bypass any of its limits or security controls;
  • misstate a report’s results, or try to evade academic-integrity requirements through the Service; or
  • upload content that you have no right to process.

Reasonable automated use is allowed, but only through interfaces or APIs we’ve explicitly made available for it.

6. Reading a report

Citation checks, grammar review, similarity analysis and AI detection all work on probabilities, so they can get things wrong, with false negatives, false positives, incomplete matches or other errors. Treat every score and suggestion as information to weigh, not as a finding of fact.

Don’t let a report become the sole ground for a disciplinary, academic, legal, employment or other high-impact decision. It’s on you to look over the underlying text, exercise your own judgment and stick to your institution’s or organization’s rules. We make no guarantee about any score or outcome, or about an acceptance, grade or decision that a third party makes.

7. Our rights in the Service

The Service, covering its software, design, branding, interfaces and original content, belongs to ChatGPTDetector.me or its licensors and enjoys protection under intellectual-property laws. Provided you follow these Terms, we give you a revocable, limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Service for what it’s meant for.

Any third-party name or trademark belongs to its owner, and our referencing it implies no affiliation or endorsement.

8. Changing, pausing or ending access

We may add, change or remove features, and we may pause the Service temporarily for maintenance, security, capacity or operational reasons. When it’s reasonably possible, material changes will come with notice.

We may restrict, suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you breached these Terms, caused a legal or security risk, abused the Service or failed to pay. You can stop using the Service whenever you wish. Whatever provisions should, by their nature, survive termination continue to apply.

9. Warranties we disclaim

To the maximum extent the law allows, the Service comes to you “as is” and “as available.” Implied warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement are disclaimed, together with any warranties arising from usage or course of dealing. We don’t promise that the Service will be accurate, secure, uninterrupted or error-free at all times. Because some jurisdictions don’t permit certain warranty exclusions, parts of this section might not apply to you.

10. How our liability is limited

As far as the law permits, ChatGPTDetector.me and its suppliers bear no liability for incidental, indirect, special, exemplary, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, opportunities or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service.

Our combined liability for every claim relating to the Service will be no more than US $100. These limitations have no effect where the law prohibits them, and they don’t cover liability that can’t legally be limited.

11. Other legal terms

Together with the policies they refer to, these Terms form the whole agreement between ChatGPTDetector.me and you regarding the Service. Should one provision prove unenforceable, the others stay in effect, and not enforcing a provision doesn’t mean we’ve waived it. Assigning these Terms is something you can do only with our consent; we may assign them if the Service goes through a reorganization, financing, merger or sale.

Applicable law may grant you rights that nothing in these Terms can limit. If a dispute comes up, bring it to us first so we can try to sort it out informally.

12. Revising these Terms

As the Service or the law evolves, we may update these Terms. We’ll post any revised Terms and change the date at the top of this page. Where required, material changes will also come with additional notice. Once revised Terms are in effect, continuing to use the Service counts as accepting them.
